In 1820, Jean-Baptist Fuchs and the Puiforcat brothers (Joseph-Marie and Emile) entered into a partnership to produce high quality silver products creating The House of Puiforcat - now owned by Hermes.  Since inception the House of Puiforcat has been recognized as France's premier supplier of high quality sterling silver tableware products particularly known for their elegant, traditional styling and legendary quality.  This set dates from the late 19th century.  The pieces are of unparalleled quality and workmanship, intricately crafted to the highest standards - definitely not for the "common folk". The set is in excellent condition.  Each of the tea set pieces bears the hallmark of Master French Silversmith Emile Puiforcat in addition to the French Government's Head of the Minerva - 1 Hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver but before the 1930s Puiforcat used 958 sterling in their tableware pieces.  The serving tray has the French Government's hallmark for exportation, which also certifies a minimum of 925 sterling silver. There are no monograms on the coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl or cream pitcher but there is an "M" "A" monogram in the center of the serving tray after the name of the original owner "Marie-Antoinette" who was named in memory of the last Queen of France. The set was manufactured for the House of Cartier and included is the original satin lined "Cartier" shipping box with the "Cartier" emblem stamped on the inside of the satin lined lid.  Absolutely marvelous. This set is of exceptionally high quality and craftsmanship as is indicated from the beauty and weight of each of the individual pieces.  Privately commissioned, you won't often find a set like this available in the secondary market. Don't let this one pass you by.

The original Cartier storage box with the "Cartier" emblem stamped in gold on the inside of the lid in the center - slightly visible in the picture above.  There is also a stuffed satin blanket which lays on top of the pieces in addition to the padded satin interior of the lid.
