In 1820, Jean-Baptist Fuchs
and the Puiforcat brothers (Joseph-Marie and Emile) entered into a partnership
to produce high quality silver products creating The House of Puiforcat - now
owned by Hermes. Since inception the House of Puiforcat has been
recognized as France's premier supplier of high quality sterling silver flatware
known for their elegant, traditional styling and legendary quality. This
set dates from the early 1900s and represents the birth of
Art Deco.
This set is in
excellent condition. Each piece bears the hallmark of Master French
Silversmith Emile Puiforcat in addition to the French Government's Head of the
Minerva - 1 Hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver; but before the
1930s Puiforcat used 958 sterling in their flatware pieces. Potential
buyer's should check with their local customs office to see if there is any duty
payable for importing this set. This set is of
