This amazing piece measures approximately 35.00 cm. in length, 25.00 cm. wide at its widest point, 11.00 cm. high and weights an astounding 1,290 grams.  It is stamped with the French Government's Head of the Minerva 1 hallmark certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver in addition to Boin-Taburet manufacturer's sterling silver hallmark as indicated in the photo below. 

Boin-Taburet was established in 1873 by the antique dealer George Boin and the jeweler Emile Taburet. The firm was credited for the revival of interest in Louis XV style silver-work in Paris in the late 1880s, and awarded a gold medal at the Paris 1889 Exposition Universelle. This fantastic piece is a stunning example of the quality and craftsmanship for which the firm was known. The firm was a favorite of the French aristocracy.
