In 1820, Jean-Baptist Fuchs and the Puiforcat brothers (Joseph-Marie and Emile) entered into a partnership to produce high quality silver products creating The House of Puiforcat - now owned by Hermes. Since inception the House of Puiforcat has been recognized as France's premier supplier of high quality sterling silver tableware known for their elegant, traditional styling and legendary quality. These particular pieces were probably commissioned privately by a member of the French "Court".  Dating from the mid 1800s, they are of unparalleled quality and workmanship, intricately crafted to the highest standards - definitely not for the "common folk".

The Puiforcat Signature Hallmark and the French Government's Head of the Minerva - 1 Hallmark, Certifying a Minimum of 950 Sterling Silver on the Base of Each Candelabra (until the 1930s Puiforcat Used 958 Sterling in their Tableware Pieces) !!

These pieces are in excellent condition.  Each piece is superbly made by hand and bears the personal hallmark of the Master French silversmith - Emile Puiforcat in addition to the "Head of the Minerva - 1", the French Government's hallmark certifying the highest quality silver in the world, a minimum of 950 sterling - until 1938 the House of Puiforcat used 958 sterling silver in their tableware pieces. This incredibly crafted "one of a kind" set is  dated from the mid 1800s when some of the most elaborate and ornate sterling pieces were produced in France.
