The original "Ravinet d'Enfert" company was founded in 1845 by E. Tonnelier. It was acquired in 1882 by Louis Ravinet and in 1891 Charles d’Enfert entered into a partnership with Louis Ravinet to officially form Ravinet d’Enfert. Ravinet d’Enfert was located in Paris for more than a century at the Hotel de Caumartin, 83 rue du Temple in the "Marais" district.
The company specialized in production sterling silver Art Deco flatware and tableware products. The firm participated on a regular basis in exhibitions and received numerous prestigious awards including gold medals at the Lyon Universal Exhibition in 1894 and Brussels in 1897. Ravinet d’Enfert exhibited in the International exhibitions of 1900, 1925 and 1937, and was awarded the Silver Medal in Brussels in 1958.
Ravinet d’Enfert discontinued its activity in 1984. This set is in near new condition and is a stunning example of the excellence of workmanship and quality for which the firm was known. Each piece in this magnificent set bears the French Government's Head of the Minerva 1 Hallmark certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver in addition to the Ravinet d'Enfert sterling silver manufacturer's hallmark and includes the following (all weights and measures approximate):
