This magnificent piece measures approximately 44.00 cm. in length, 32.00 cm. wide at its widest point and weights approximately 1,210 grams. It is stamped on the underside "A. Aucoc" and bears the French government's Head of the Minerva 1 hallmark certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver as well as the "A. Aucoc" manufacturer's sterling silver hallmark. It is in near new condition and comes with its own anti-tarnish storage wrap for easy storage. |

The Aucoc firm was founded in 1821 by Casimir Aucoc and in 1835 relocated to the prestigious Rue de la Paix in Paris. The firm regularly collaborated with Christofle and Bon-Taburet, one of the most innovative goldsmiths from the late 19th century and early 20th century. Known for their unique and luxurious styles and craftsmanship the firm received numerous medals of recognition from several international exhibitions. Notable clients included King Louis-Phillippe of France, the Duke of Orleans, Napoleon III and his wife Princess Eugenie as well as Queen Victoria of England. |
