Founded in 1880 by Edmond Tétard, Tétard quickly developed an international reputation for high quality and fine craftsmanship working in 950 sterling silver and specializing in Louis XV style flatware and tableware pieces. In 1889 Edmond Tetard participated in the Universal Exhibition and received a gold medal. In 1901 the firm was taken over by Edmond's three sons, Henri, Jacques and Georges who changed the name to Tétard Frères. From the 1920s the firm developed sterling silver works from the models of such avant-garde designers as Valéry, Bizouard and Louis Tardy and at the International Colonial Exhibition of 1931, Tétard Frères won an exceptional ten medals for their numerous creations. This piece is a stunning example of the quality and craftsmanship for which the firm is famous.
